15 Nasturtium Glorious Gleam Flower Seeds- - NASTURTIUM TROPAEOLUM Annual flower-B236

Description:

This semi-trailing Nasturtium wanders 1m (36") and more. Large, fragrant, double and semi-double flowers come in a beautiful range of colours. Encourage it to climb by tying. Sow Glorious Gleam nasturtium seeds to fill in a large area quickly. Glorious Gleam Nasturtium seeds can be direct sown in the late spring or early summer. Try them in hanging baskets or along a rock wall.

All Nasturtiums tend to self sow, but they are tender plants and easy to control. The leaves, flowers, and seeds of this nasturtium are edible, and the flowers bring a rich visual pop to salads and smart drinks. An AAS Winner in 1935. Nasturtiums thrive in poor to average, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. If growing in full sun, consider using some rocks around the plants to prevent their roots from getting too hot. In partial shade, plants tend to have larger leaves and a more sprawling habit. Keep watered during dry weather, and do not fertilize. Great companions for Nasturtium are Brassicas, cucumbers, melons, radishes, and tomatoes.

Growing:

You can start the seeds indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last spring frost. See your local frost dates. Plant nasturtium seeds in early spring in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. They can grow in partial shade, but they will not bloom as well. Nasturtiums prefer poorer soils and they do not need fertilizers (unless your soil is extremely poor). Fertile soil will produce fewer blooms and more foliage. Plant the seeds about half an inch deep and 8 to 12 inches apart. Plants should appear in 7 to 12 days. Water regularly throughout the growing season, but be careful not to over-water your plants. Cutting off the faded/dead flowers will prolong blooming. If you’re growing nasturtiums in containers, they may need to be trimmed back occasionally over the growing season.
