This evergreen tree is popularly used during Christmas as Christmas Trees but also used for Lumber and also for pulp and paper production.
This extremely useful tree is native to Canada and grows in variety of conditions and soil types. It can be found from Ontario, Canada all the way to the tree line in the Arctic. The tree is so huge, it can reach 25m (80') or more and can live for hundred of years and normally grow to 15-20m (50-66')
How to Grow:
Stratification of trees occurs naturally outdoors through the winter and sowing seeds outdoors in the fall takes advantage of this natural effect.
To stratify indoor, mix the seed with a moistened, sterile, peat based growing medium in a container, wrap a ventilated bag and place it in a refrigerator for 10-20 weeks. In the spring, plant the seed in a sheltered spot outside to grow into seedlings. Then transplant to permanent site when well rooted.
