50+ Sea Holly Blue Flower Seeds- Spiny egg-Shaped Beautiful Perennial -Blue Hobbit- Eryngium Planum- B484
Description:
'Blue Hobbit' is a dwarf sea holly that rises in a globular mound to only 8-12" tall when in full bloom. Spiny, egg-shaped, purplish-blue flower heads atop silver-blue stems appear in a profuse and long summer bloom. They are very similar to globe thistle (Echinops), but sea holly flowers have green or blue cones and a distinctive bract collar in silver, white, green or bluish-purple. Sea holly plants (Eryngium) are low-maintenance and produce striking purple-blue flowers that look like small glowing thistles. The colors often look almost metallic and painted on and can change in the sunlight. Sea holly plants can have green or silvery-blue stems.
Growing Sea Holly Blue Plants: Eryngium Sea Holly self-sows readily by dropping its flower seeds on the ground, but it is not invasive. If the Sea Holly seeds are started indoors, transplant the seedlings where you want them to grow when they are quite small. The Eryngium plants have taproots, so they won't transplant well once mature. Sea Holly plants attract bees and butterflies, and they are a great plant for a low water garden. Eryngium seeds can be started directly outside in the spring after frost season has passed.
